Who's trustworthy?

Waiting for a saviour

"Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?"
— Epicurus

The myth about Black unity

One can not truely know what the "black community" feels or thinks. With community representing thought and not geographical positioning or skin color.

I don't want to be in alliance with persons of any race or any other group if it means sacrificing my philosophical and ethical principles. The only time for black people to truly unite is when there is an external threat against them, whether the external threat is jim crow laws , slavery, or attempts to eliminate black people off the face of the planet

There is no reason for black people to unite with each other just off of the fact that they are black. I have no interest in aligning myself with black people whose goal is to promote black nationalism or socialism. I would gladly align myself with black people who want to promote any variant of individualism, but not because their ancestors mostly evolved on the same continent that my ancestors mostly evolved on.

Thinking Styles

Those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities - Voltaire

"Everyone thinks; it is our nature to do so. But much of our thinking, left to itself, is biased, distorted, partial, uninformed or down-right prejudiced. Yet the quality of our life and that of what we produce, make, or build depends precisely on the quality of our thought. Shoddy thinking is costly, both in money and in quality of life. Excellence in thought, however, must be systematically cultivated."

"A huge amount of misunderstanding and miscommunication developed from the fact that individuals who used one style of thinking typically assumed that all other people used their own thinking style. In other words, most of the population assumed that their was only one correct or sane method of thinking. This assumption produced a great amount of intolerance, impatience, abuse, frustration, and inefficiency in the communication and relationships which were formed between individuals."

Tribalism

Most people are tribal, I will give you that. However, I am tribal to people who hold the same shared beliefs, perspectives, and principles that I personally hold , not tribal in the sense to people who share the same skin tone or ethnic background that I do, and you will find many people who ascribe to that definition of tribalism.

The passing down of generational wealth

I'm not completely sold on the idea of accumulating monetary wealth, for the expressed purpose of having it passed down to my descendents. Maybe with the exception of those with disabilities.

I can understand needing resources for our children's immediate needs, to prepare them for adulthood and more or less positioning them to become competitive with their local, national and global peers. Maybe I'll grant some leeway on the concept of having a business that they can at the very least operate or manage part-time if not full. Outside of that they'd be on their own. If they wanted something such as a car, at the max, I would make them earn the first half themselves and entertain the idea of matching the other.

However, its my belief that there should be more of an emphasis on a wealth of knowlege and experience (formal and informal) that outweigh other assets which will allow them to be truly self-sufficient in this world. Theres too much attention to consumerism and in my opinion not enough on strength and pride in  building, generating, and fixing things yourself.

Is Western society failing us?
I've always heard the proverb... 'It takes a village to raise a child' but if that child still hasn't obtained enough, if any, of the wherewithal to later exceed in this world, how much of it is the fault of the child & how much of it is the fault of the village?

Domestic Blacks vs. All foreigners

Theres this belief held by many Black people, that the communities they occupy solely belong to them and that of their racial sameness. In addition, what I dont understand is this concept, held by them, of money being sucked out of their so called community. The definition of a transaction is that one is provided a good or service in exchange for payment. Once you give it (payment) away, its no longer yours to dictate where, how, and who it should be spent on.

Next point, Blacks in America are at the bottom. When Black and non-Black foreigners land in America most of them are going to initially find themselves, along with domestic Blacks at the bottom. There is no known conspiracy, that I'm aware of, for non-Black foreigners to prey on domestic or non-domestic Blacks. I suppose its an issue of demographics. Blacks are more populated in Eastern & Southern regions of America, so immigrants who are a smaller minority, who decide on becoming self-employed are inevitably going to supply/service the community majority.

What is so inherently wrong with that? Should Blacks only, be allowed to
'Have a dream' ? or is it that foreigners, moreso non-Black foreigners shouldn't have their dream at the expense of domestic Blacks?

To suggest that they don't have a right to be there and earn a living to support their family would be about as unfair if say, hypothetically, Blacks in America were dismantled and displaced to parts of Mexico and Asia and the natural citizens there were protesting the attempts of Blacks to earn a living through supplying/servicing them.

Next, not all Blacks are natural U.S citizens. Africans, many Central/South Americans and Caribbeans are Black as well. What type of penalty should be levied against them, for so called, sucking money (if any) out of the community?

And finally, Blacks as a collective in America have serious buying power, something to the tune of approximately $1 trillion in spending money. But in my humble opinion, the problem with that is, many Blacks spend their money on frivolous things such as (rims, brand name clothes, expensive jewellery, luxury vehicles...), as opposed to using their wealth to create more wealth,  but once many are done spending to their hearts content many want to cop-out by shifting attention onto immigrants who own community mom and pop shops? Where is the accountability?

[singling out] the single Black woman

I loathe the topic of Black women struggling to find compatible mates, moreso when this issue is  brought up by the American media. Not to trivialize the experience of those who are in this predicament; however, you'd think the most pressing issue plaguing Black people in America today is their inability to find romance.

The scenario is always the same, get at least 3 women of reasonably the same physical attractiveness, claim them to be today's modern, and sophisticated woman, who's highly educated, intelligent and motivated. Who has many accomplishments under her belt, and who has established herself in a career that has afforded her the Barbie like lifestyle of owning her own home, a cute little luxury sports car and maybe a puppy with a price tag of half a grand to match.

After the audience is given the back story we get into the meat & potatoes of the matter which always goes back to the Black woman's counterpart not being able to match or exceed her socio-economic success at the same rate. They then run through the gambit of what might be the cause and its always the same spiel: Black men's education is lacking relative to that of Black women, Black men are in and out of jail, Black men can't successfully land or maintain a job or the job that they do have is not up to par with that of Black women or the classic "he's intimidated by my success" spiel, with the overall message being the same, that Black men in America are deadbeats.

The audience is made to more or less champion the plight of Black women as well as buy in to this notion that if those exceptionally successful, talented and desirable women are having difficulty finding Mr. right then what hope is there for the average Black woman in America? They then conclude the segment with some talking head promoting his new book on relationships.

These types of programs never offer any depth as to why Black men and women find themselves in the predicaments that they are in, which forces most spectators to take what is being presented to them at face value. I surmise that the point is to have the floodgates of bad experiences and insecurities of Black women part way once again.

When these discussions are then brought up; it almost always incites a feud between Black men and women. However, my interest is in understanding the media's fascination with the union or lack thereof among Black people. Why is this race being singled out? How come, on average, these charges are not levied against successful women of other races?

An open letter to the Black & distinguished

Disclaimer: Rant alert

I am so sick of these self-absorbed, Black wannabee experts. The ones who barely know how to wipe their own ass, the ones who may be well spoken, have attended A College class or two
(At Everyman's University) and now know the meaning to life, who may now have accumulated (legitimate) money, who now or always resided in a predominantly Whit neighbourhood on the nicer side of town, the ones who have 'unique' interests outside of Hip Hop & Basketball or outside of getting their hair & nails done or they denounce these interests altogether, for fear of living up to a perceived stereotype. So now it's their belief that they're some refined quality, or novelty.

"You're not like those other Blacks. No, no, no... You, are distinguished."
The meticulously crafted antithesis of everything (supposedly) wrong with 'Black culture'(as if theres only one form of Black culture) or the antithesis of all of those other Black people, all those other Black men, all those other Black women.

Using cliches like 'progressive Black', which  insinuates that theres an exclusive club of regressive Blacks, in which these Blacks have purposefully placed themselves into, and aren't taking the necessary measures to get themselves out, or at the very least not doing it fast enough to place the mind of the 'progressive' Black at ease.

When they're not doing that, they're engaged in (ironically enough) regressive, and
insipid discussions and behaviours, like promoting misanthropy as a good idea for the race or online swapping links to vids and articles that paint Black women/ppl in a negative light, setting a less than expected example of how a progressive saint should conduct themselves. "You can get away with that, after all, you, are distinguished." Which I suppose, by definition should mean that you and your worldview, your problems, your concerns, your pet peeves, your philosophies, your life experiences are all a priority which should take precedent over every other person within the Black race. You've earned it! Or did you?

Because the dirty little secret is its bad enough that you're Black, you don't want to, in addition be thought of as *gasp* 'average' or 'typical'. No, you cant risk that double jeopardy. Yeah, why don't these people give commentary on that? Instead of harbouring feelings of contempt for, and making your fellow, less than ideal Black man and woman  exclusively liable for the state and image of the race and make the assertion of it being their fault. (Lets not take their individual history into consideration, apparently that doesn't count for anything these days), thus trivializing their experiences.

Blacks who are too cowardly to become established on their own merits, who feel inclined to use  indigenous people, as their bargaining chip into elitism. And to add insult to injury insist that other people should feel sorry for them, because the crux of their problems is that other Black people aren't meeting their social standard.

My question to these particular Blacks is, if you feel as though you arent compatible with a certain sector of other Black people, because they dont prescribe to your philosophies, then why not exclusively socialize with Blacks & non-Blacks that do?
